Review: The Perfect Toner is I’m From Rice Toner!

I’m From Rice Toner is the perfect toner if I’ve ever seen one!

Before adding I’m From Rice Toner to my Korean skin care routine, I had been struggling with defining the purpose of toner. You see, I’ve been into Korean skin care for over six years, and I could never understand why the 10-Step Korean Skin Care Routine required a toner.

I tried toners from Benton, Mamonde, Secret Key, and Elizavecca, to name a few. But I didn’t notice spectacular results until I bought I’m From Rice Toner. It was then that I realized the perfect toner not only soothes the skin and treats acne, but also prevents breakouts.

What is It?

I’m From skin care company prides itself with local all-natural ingredients mostly native to South Korea. As stated on YesStyle, I’m From describes Rice Toner as:

  • A whitening, brightening, and moisturizing toner formulated with 77.78% rice extract.
  • A dual functional product: Whitening + Anti-wrinkle.
  • Contains rice to moisturizes skin for a glowing finish.
  • Contains 77.78% of Goami Extract for whitening and improved elasticity.

Ingredients as reported by YesStyle:

Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract (77.78%), Methylpropanediol, Triethylhexanoin, Hydrogenated Poly(C6-14 Olefin), Niacinamide, Pentylene Glycol, Portulaca Oleracea (Green Purslane) Extract, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Extract, Ulmus Davidiana Root Extract, Amaranthus Caudatus (Love Lies Bleeding) Seed Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Water, Polyglyceryl-10 Myristate, Butylene Glycol, Adenosine, Cellulose Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol

For those of you wondering whatha hell are “goami extracts,” and why does it mirror the same percentage as the rice extract, here’s an explanation: It’s a strain of rice. Yes, you’re not going crazy! Their marketing team was finessing the product description.

I have personally learned from dabbling in Korean skin care that it’s true, rice is a very beneficial ingredient that helps with brightening and smoothing the skin complexion. So it’s great the first ingredient is rice and that it takes up the bulk of ingredients. What is also doing some heavy lifting is niacinamide and portulaca oleracea (green purslane). According to INCI Decoder, niacinamide is an anti-acne, cell-communicating, and skin-brightening ingredient. Portulaca oleracea is an antioxidant and soothing extract. The website gives more details on each ingredient, and it seems to paint I’m From Rice Toner as a deeply soothing and skin-correcting product. Personally, I’m in love with this stuff.

How to Purchase

Usually, I purchase I’m From Rice Toner from YesStyle or Wishtrend. They most likely will have a discount on this product. For instance, Wishtrend is currently selling Rice Toner on eBay with free shipping. You can also find the toner on Amazon, but sometimes the seller price gouges.

On average, I spend about $25 per bottle. The results are incredibly worth the money. The toner comes in a minimalistic box and glass bottle (although a plastic bottle now replaces the product’s former glass container). The packaging design makes me think of a simple, clean, and all-natural product is inside.

What I appreciate is that the product box comes sealed and lists the directions and product description in Korean AND English. There is a tiny map that shows where the main ingredient was collected.

Although the product no longer comes in a glass container, which is good for recycling, I’m pretty sure a plastic bottle won’t keep the ingredients potent for long. I just ordered two refills, so we’ll see. Maybe I’ll keep a glass container and pour new product into it lol!

How to Use It

Using I’m From Rice Toner is the same as any toner. After washing your face and exfoliating (optional), use a disposable cotton pad or reusable cloth to apply the toner to your face. (I buy these reusable pads from Amazon, and they’re fantastic). The toner will grab any extra dirt left over while conditioning your face with its amazing ingredients.

The product consistency will separate after each use into a thick white layer above a cloudy layer of toner. You have to shake the product before applying it. Many times, I’ll see some of the product on my face because of its milky white color and very watery consistency. I’ll then gently pat the excess toner into my skin for quicker absorption.

The toner has a very light fragrance, but it’s so subtle that I don’t notice it half the time. If the scent were heavier, I’d most definitely break out.

I’m From also has another ridiculously effective product called Honey Mask made with 38.7% natural honey. I like to tone my face before applying the Honey Mask, so I don’t wipe off any of the mask’s ingredients. If you’ve ever used honey as an anti-inflammatory agent, then you know why you wouldn’t want to disturb such a helpful and powerful ingredient.

Results

The first time I used I’m From Rice Toner, I didn’t use it consistently. I didn’t have great luck with other toners. I barely understood them, so I didn’t take them seriously. Most times, a toner would help to soothe my skin to an extent, but I’d still have new pimples. So, to me, I could use a different toner in the morning or evening. It just depended on my skin condition.

Once I saw outstanding Amazon reviews of this toner, I decided to use the toner morning and night instead of just in the evening. What. A. Difference! Not only does it soothe my skin, but it legitimately prevents breakouts. Before using this toner, I’d have pimples or redness from a day of stress, hormones, or being in the heat (or all of the above!). I used the toner, and the pimples would practically heal overnight. I’ve also noticed dark pigmentation from acne scarring began to lighten (not overnight. Think over weeks lol!).

I just opened a new bottle about two weeks ago, and I’m about 1/4 of the way through. It’s only 150 ml (5.7 oz). I cannot go without this toner, so I always stock up.

Overall Opinion

I flippin love this toner! It’s the best I’ve tried so far. I would’ve never thought a toner would reinvigorate my skin care routine and give it purpose.

I highly recommend this toner, especially for sensitive skin. I’ve tried plenty of new Korean skin care products over the years, and my skin will immediately breakout to tell me the product is a dud.

I’ve never experienced a toner that works so well with my skin. It made a noticeable difference in my complexion and acne treatment. It is a little pricey, but trust me, it’s worth it. You’ll enjoy smoother skin with fewer pimples and irritation in no time!

An excellent, informative review! I’ve been looking at this toner and wondering if I should give it a try. Thanks for mentioning the Honey Mask and adding the link for the free shipping from eBay. I will be using it in the near future! Keep up the awesome work! 😘
